Text contrast checker
Measure WCAG contrast between two solid colours.
Your choices
Numbers shown initially are examples. Replace them with your own figures. Inputs are processed for this response and are not stored by this tool.
How it works
Contrast is (lighter relative luminance + 0.05) ÷ (darker relative luminance + 0.05). Normal text needs at least 4.5:1 for WCAG AA; large text needs 3:1. This checks solid colours only, not opacity, images, gradients or whole-page accessibility.
Example and practical tip
A passing colour pair does not guarantee that focus, error messages or other controls are accessible. Check them separately.
